Alice helps Santo, and her father's promises help her overcome the shock of what she did for him. Meanwhile, however, while investigating the Damerino's disappearance, Nereo and his cousin Assunta make a discovery that puts Santo in a very uncomfortable position.

Alice therefore asks her grandmother for help getting her father safely to Calabria. To do so, however, she puts herself in a very dangerous situation.

Thanks to Alice, her father manages to escape Nereo's clutches. Convinced that going to Calabria is tantamount to a death sentence, Santo tries to convince his daughter to run away with him. And it's in Calabria that Alice discovers she was wrong to trust Grandma Lina.

Santo has put Alice in a position where she has everything to lose: go into witness protection with him or end up in prison?
